Who are the donors and how are they tested

Donors are young women up to the age of 32. At our clinic, we are only utilizing oocytes from young and healthy donors and we never use our patients’ surplus oocytes.

In order for a donor to be included in the program, she must meet strict criteria set by American Association for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). Beside hormonal testing, ultrasounds and psychological evaluation, all donors are tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STD – HIV, HbSAg, HCV, CMV, Chlamydia, Syphilis).
Thy also undergo caryotype testing and genetic testing for Cystic Fibrosis mutations. Our donors are mostly university students or young mothers on a maternity leave.

None of them is treated at our clinic for infertility and oocyte donation is their voluntary decision. Oocyte donation in the Czech Republic is anonymous by law. It is not legal for the donor to know her recipient and vice versa.

Egg donor information

With the advent of European Union laws, especially the European tissue directive (under which IVF methods and donation of reproductive cells fall under), Reprofit International clinic is required to comply.

Beginning 2010, pursuant the donor’s privacy, only information regarding their year of birth and blood type will be provided. Other information (hair/eye colour, height and weight) will not be provided to the patients.

The donor selection by the physician will still proceed early enough in advance with the goal of reaching the best possible match. All egg and sperm donors must have a minimum of 12 years of education. We also guarantee that our donors are citizens of the Czech Republic (Caucasian).
